This is what we finished in class. It is designed for those of you away to work on it so please do since I assigned this as hw. If it confuses you please come and see me Monday after school and I will hold a special tutorial. What I did in class I WILL NOT review next class.  The new stuff  I will quickly review and move on. Topic One:  Canadian Constitution and the Patriation of the Constitution

• Using the following handout we reviewed the major parts of the constitution including the debte about “bringing it home.” We then examined the structure of Canadian Government focussing on the  3 branches of government, federal system of government the division of powers.

Topic Two:   Choosing a government

• This was assigned as homework. Here is the handout and the power point needed to answer the questions. Some of it also in the Counterpoints text  (chapter 9) and the workbook ( chapter 1) BUT I made the worksheet from the power point.

Topic Three:    enacting Legislation, Types of Governments, Types of electoral systems

• A booklet was given and needs to be completed for homework.
• Enacting legislation: the answers are on page 308 of Counterpoints.

Focus: Government Unit

• we wrote our unit test for the 1920s and 1930s
• As review for ideologies, and the political spectrum, I gave a few different self quizzes. Please do them as review and I will post answers under the page government answer keys.
• I will have a checkpoint for ideologies, spectrum, and political parties on Monday.
• FOR THOSE AWAY ON THURS:
• I will finish political parties. I have copied the pages missing and I will post the handout here for Block 1-4 students. I will also post my answers so that you can add the info as hw. Block 1-5 students we finished this section.
• I will continue with the next section: Handouts will be in the box…. Please get them Friday. I suggest that you try to do these booklets and come to tutorial ( SPECIAL ONE) this Monday  and I will quickly teach what was done on Thurs. The topics will include:   Canada’s Constitution, Structure of Government, How are governement works and elections.
